One Lucky Person Wins 40 Million in Lottery


One ticket matched all six Mega Millions numbers in the Friday, December 1, 2006 drawing, and now players are checking their tickets to see who won the estimated $40 million jackpot. The jackpot-winning ticket, which was purchased in Whitehall, Ohio, matched the numbers 16-22-23-37-53 and the Mega Ball number 35.  But that certainly wasn't the only winner in Friday's drawing. A total of 415,702 tickets won Mega Millions prizes.

Five tickets came within just one number of winning it all. Each of them matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California, Georgia (2) and Texas (2). The jackpot for the Tuesday, December 5, 2006 Mega Millions drawing is $12 million.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00

What is Russian roulette?

With each pull of the handle, or push of the button, a slot machine begins the process of randomly selecting the next alignment of symbols. If a slot machine malfunctions it cannot complete the random selection process, and therefore reverts to a "tilt" mode. When a malfunction occurs some slot machine manufacturers, for engineering purposes, set the reels to stop briefly in a "jackpot" position. When this happens a player may see the reels momentarily stop at a jackpot alignment and then go into a slow spin. This often causes the player to believe a jackpot has been won. In recent years slot machine manufacturers have changed the "stop" location to other than a jackpot alignment to help prevent the misunderstanding.
